Nia needed an opening title for her short film, “The Player Slayer.” Unsure about what she wanted or how she wanted the title to look.
I was given the creative license to do what I wanted with this animated sequence. The word, ‘player’ stuck out to me and I thought of the pimps from the 1970s blaxploitation films. Purple had to be incorporated into the design as purple represents royalty and pimps tend to dress majestically. I had the letter, ‘p’ get slashed in half falling to the ground shattering as the letter ‘s’ took its place turning red from white since the word, ‘slayer’ insinuates something sinister.
